When it comes to almost any event people will be able to recall most clearly two things. If you’ve followed this blog for a while or you listen to my podcast (‘Yes’ To ‘I Do’ - Your Wedding Planning Podcast) you will already know exactly where I am going with this.
I talk about this regularly and I am yet to have someone disagree with me. When it comes to event planning, people generally remember two things:
The food and the funny
In other words, people remember what they ate and what entertainment was on. If you were to think back to weddings or events you’ve attended in the past I guarantee you will clearly remember those two things, for the right or wrong reasons! Something you have a vague recollection of the dress, or the venue sticks in your mind but I feel pretty confident that neither of them stick as clearly in your mind as either the food or the entertainment.
It’s easy to get caught up in something like the colour of the sashes on the chairs, but how often do you remember the sashes after previous events?
I’m not saying these things are not important. They are important but generally people will look over them and not really notice them. However, if they are dramatically wrong people will remember them. Don’t let that happen!
When it comes to planning your wedding I would recommend you look at what you remember from previous weddings and make sure that you focus on those things. Not only because they are the most memorable but also because you remembered them for a reason!
The chances are you remember them because those things are important to you. Whether you were aware of it or not, those are important things for you.
Until next week,
