Make Sure You Get Maximum Value from your Entertainment

There are so many times for entertainment during the day that it can be hard to make a decision as to when the best time is.

Over my years as a wedding magician I have performed in every single imaginable time of a wedding day, so I have a little bit of experience on the subject. In my mind there are 4 best times to have entertainment.

Each on has it's own advantages and disadvantages and I want to talk about each one individually.

The Drinks Reception:

You've just got married, everyone's really happy and excited; you go off and have your photos done, everyone then twiddles their thumbs wondering what they are going to do for the next 2 hours. This is an obvious and very common time to have entertainment at your wedding day.

The Wedding Breakfast:

There are two theories of thought on this. On the one hand everyone hasn't eaten since silly o'clock that morning, the last thing they want to do is wait to eat their food because the magician wants to show them a card trick. I totally understand this thought and I tend to agree, however there is a second school of thought.

The second school of thought is that if something goes wrong with the food, there's a delay or even a slight hitch then entertainment can work perfectly at this time to cover that over. During larger weddings it is often be the case that the table served first can finish their meal before the final table has even received that meal. Entertainment can work wonderfully to help make that wait as minimal as possible.

I think when it comes to the breakfast, you are best placed to have entertainment on hand, just in case you need it. Some entertainers will offer this as an option, I happen to, and it can be a real life saver, should you need it.

After The Breakfast:

Again, this is a lull in the day that people don't tend to think about. Nothing is going on. The DJ may be setting up, or the Photobooth has arrived but isn't quite ready yet, how do you cover this time? Simple entertainment can make this couple of hours seem like minutes.

I tend to find that a lot of brides like to have a little stand-up magic show at this time. It allows everyone to see something without having to actively get involved as this time is often known as the time to catch a quick power nap. Of course, you don't want your guests to fall asleep, so this type of thing allows them to relax before the dancing begins.

The Evening Reception:

You have the band or DJ booked for the evening. That's great, however, there are people who aren't fussed about dancing the night away but still need entertaining. An extra piece of entertainment at this time can really make the difference for them. It makes them feel special and like they've been thought of.

It's also a great way to intergrate the day and the evening guests.

Those are the 4 best times for entertainment during the day. As it so happens, I can service each part of the day (there's a surprise!) you can read more about it and enquire here:
